Hormone replacement therapy can be administered to patients in a variety of forms, including patches, pills, and creams. But one type, called Implantable Hormone Pellets, is almost always manufactured and dispensed by compounding pharmacies. At MasterPharm, our highly trained technicians can customize the production of implantable hormone pellets to meet the needs of each unique patient.

Compared to oral medications, implantable pellets release the prescribed level and composition of hormones into the body over a three to four month period, thereby avoiding the peaks and valleys common to hormone replacement therapy. Each pellet is a tiny, solid cylinder close in size to a grain of rice. A qualified medical professional uses an instrument to implant these pellets into the abdomen or buttocks of the patient under local anesthesia. While the pellets dissolve under the skin, the prescribed levels of hormones are consistently released in the body throughout the prescribed timeframe.

Testosterone, estrogen, and progesterone are among the hormones that physicians prescribe for hormone replacement or bio-identical hormone therapies. Hormone replacement therapy can improve many common ailments including the following:

  • Migraines and headaches
  • Incontinence
  • Decreased libido
  • Low bone density
  • Depression and anxiety
  • Fatigue
  • Poor mental concentration
  • Body weight issues
